One record shape that travels across finance, AI, hardware, and chemistry
Why adapters exist
Different fields speak different sciences, but teams all need the same four truths in every message:
{ value, align, band, manifest_id, stamp }
- value → what happened (untouched; collapse parity holds:
phi((m,a)) = m) - align → bounded dial
(-1,+1)describing stability / risk - band → human/policy stance derived from declared cutpoints
- manifest_id → the rulebook that defined “normal” and actions
- stamp → verifiable timing and order
Adapters show how to drop this block into any domain without changing the domain’s science.
What stays invariant (math + governance)
# alignment pipeline (portable, order-invariant)
a_c := clamp(a_raw, -1+eps_a, +1-eps_a)
u := atanh(a_c)
U += w * u
W += w
align := tanh( U / max(W, eps_w) )
# policy mapping (domain-specific cutpoints, same mechanism)
band := band_from_align(align, manifest_id)
- Math stays the same (bounded, replayable).
- Policy stays yours (cutpoints, response windows live in the manifest).
- Truth stays portable (anyone can replay your meaning later).
How to read any adapter page
Each domain page will show:
Problem → SSMDE fit → Example record → Human action via band → Evidence via stamp
You will see copy-ready blocks like:
{
value: { ...domain_facts... },
align: <in (-1,+1)>,
band: "<GREEN|AMBER|RED or A++|A-|...>",
manifest_id: "<DOMAIN_POLICY_ID>",
stamp: "SSMCLOCK1|<utc_iso>|sha256=<...>|prev=<...>"
}
…and clear notes on how manifest_id fixes cutpoints and response windows for that domain.
What’s in this section (proof-of-concept span)
- 3.1 Finance / Operations Stability — cash rhythm, liquidity calm vs wobble, controller response windows.
- 3.2 AI Routing and Escalation — auto-execute vs human-review gates with stamped authority.
- 3.3 Industrial / Hardware Health — vibration/thermal drift into maintenance and shutdown policy.
- 3.4 Chemistry / Process Safety — lab/plant “allowed / controlled / forbid” with replayable bands.
This span is deliberate: money, decisions, machines, safety. If it works here, it generalizes to:
clinical monitoring, structural fatigue, cyber drift, grid load, environmental compliance, and more—without changing the core SSMDE contract.
Adapter authoring checklist (for your team)
[ ] Declare domain facts in value (untouched)
[ ] Compute align with bounded pipeline; document w, eps_a, eps_w
[ ] Publish band cutpoints + response windows in the manifest
[ ] Mint/rotate manifest_id when policy changes
[ ] Stamp for accountability in regulated settings
[ ] Provide a minimal and a full disclosure mode for privacy
