Shunyaya Symbolic Mathematical Hardware – UI & Defaults (2.11–2.12)

2.11 — Display and banding (UI guidance)

  • Minimal surfaces. Display the value and a compact band badge A++/A+/A0/A-/A--.
  • Advisory first. Treat bands as evidence strength; actuators continue to act on m until a safety case gates on a.
  • Operator cues. Highlight low-confidence spans on timelines; never hide numbers behind badges.
  • Canonical lane display. Clamp before showing: a := clamp(a, -1+eps_a, +1-eps_a); 4–5 decimals are sufficient.
  • Zero convention. (0,+1) is allowed as a policy-defined “fully certain zero”; otherwise preserve reported a.
  • Consistency. Use the same thresholds everywhere to keep audits and handovers clean.

2.12 — Defaults and profiles (recommended starting points)

  • Numerical defaults. eps_a = 1e-6, eps_w = 1e-12, denom_soft_min tuned per domain, gamma = 1.
  • Policy default (normative).division_policy = "strict" for magnitudes unless explicitly declared otherwise.
    • Profiles: "soft" for dashboards/visualization; "strict" for scientific compute; "meadow" only with explicit sentinel semantics and sign-off.
  • Deployment mode. Start observation-only with full (m,a) logging; enable gate/decision ports in advisory mode after passing conformance.
  • Disclosure. Publish active knobs and band thresholds with each release for reproducible comparisons.
  • Determinism. Fix knobs for a rollout; changing any knob resets parity claims and must be stamped in the manifest.
